Body Confidence//Loving Yourself//St. Louis

Boudoir photography is typically thought of as something a woman does for her man.  I see it as something you do for yourself with the additional perk of gifting your fiancé, husband, or boyfriend a beautiful album in the end. Body confidence is my end goal.

Body Confidence and Loving Yourself

I think all women, no matter the size, struggle with body confidence.  It’s just something we all deal with.  We have a certain angle we prefer with selfies. We have a better side or we hate our profile.  Most of this is in our heads and no one else actually sees it, but we still deal with it every single day.

The most important thing you can do is not compare yourself to others! You are beautiful just as you are! Boudoir photography can show you this.

I have had so many women see a huge change in their mindset after their session.  During a recent session, I had a client cry seeing herself in the photos, not because she hated what she saw.  She cried because she LOVED what she saw.  This client has a daughter and in her photos she saw the stretch marks that came from pregnancy and creating life. It was so powerful!

I have had clients see their cellulite and realize that it’s not a bad thing! It’s something we all have (yes even tiny models). Clients with scars specifically ask me not to remove them in the photos because they make them who they are.  Some hate one side of their profile so much, but when they see the images, they don’t even notice their profile. I seriously love seeing clients learning to love themselves after sessions.  It’s why I do what I do!

Everyone is Nervous.

Just know that almost every client is nervous before their boudoir photography session. It’s normal! I have mimosas. My studio is a judgement free zone.  And we will most definitely have a blast!

Plus Size Boudoir Outfits//St. Louis, MO

Ashley Morgan from the blog Ashley Morgan: A Life and Style Blog came into the studio a few weeks ago for a photo session to feature some of her favorite plus size boudoir outfits.  She has actually been in the studio before for a session, and she is one of my favorite clients!

This my all time favorite photo from a previous session with Ashley!

Plus Size Boudoir Outfits

Ashley brought several different options to her session, including a couple of swim suits, which looked so cute, two sweaters, and a pair of jeans with a pretty red bra!

The Miraclesuit

I had honestly never heard of the Miraclesuit prior to Ashley’s session.  After seeing how great the two swimsuits helped her curves look, I decided to do some research.  These suits are SO GREAT! Their motto is to make you “feel and look 10 lbs lighter in 10 seconds” which is something everyone wants to achieve!

The suit below is the New Sensations Madero Swimsuit in Black.

The one thing I want to mention is that the suits are a bit pricier, but I think we all would agree if the price is worth it, we will splurge! Also, they have a sale page… You could always start there!

This suit below is also by Miraclesuit and is called the So Riche Zip Code Swimsuit in the color Nile. P.S. I love these sunglasses.

Ashley always find the cutest most flattering sweaters. This black one from Express is fitted, and I really love the detail. It really shows off her beautiful shape!

Hallie HAD to jump in on this photo.  She loves to model. 🙂

Mustard color is really in this year.  The cardigan from Charlotte Russe allows us to bring the sweater off the shoulder which brings a bit more sexiness into the photos.  I really love cardigans because they also give you something to do with your hands. 🙂

The last option

Bra and panty sets can be hit or miss with plus size boudoir outfits.  This one was definitely a hit.  It always depends on how flattering the jeans (from Old Navy) are to your figure, which is hard to decide unless you bring several different pairs to the session.  These worked well because they were high waisted but not too high and more fitted. For future reference, loose jeans do not work at all!

The Bra is from Victoria’s Secret!

Some other ideas

Body suits with thongs are probably my go to.  You can find them at Torrid or Forever 21.  Be sure to check out this post for some links to both.

Robes.  Like the cardigans above, they give you something to do with your hands AND are usually more fitted, flowy, and sexy.

High heels.  Be sure they are pumps! They will lengthen your legs!

Boudoir Photo Shoot: What to Wear // Part 3 – Plus-Size

What you wear to a boudoir photo shoot holds some importance. Yet, any boudoir photographer will tell you this: once the camera is aimed and the pose is set, lingerie is not what truly matters. The session goes beyond the panties and bras; the woman baring her skin is left to shine with confidence and personality.

In this final piece in my three-part series of what to wear at a boudoir photo shoot, I focus on something different. I want to celebrate the curvier, plus-size women who want to find their confidence while shedding their clothes! These are tips on accentuating your beautiful body.

Often, plus-size women tend to feel like they should hide their bodies. As a boudoir photographer, I am all about celebrating every shape and size a woman can have!

Whether you’re plus-size or not, it really only comes down to two main categories: comfy or sexy. (These are both topics covered in part one and part two in my series.) The bottom line is this: no matter what style you’re going for or what size you are, wear something that fits! Always make sure you get a size larger than your normal clothes size. You want it to fit loosely. In a boudoir shoot, something that fits you excellently in every day life might not translate well. In addition, we want you to feel as comfortable as possible during the session. Wearing something tight will have the opposite effect in most cases.

Something specific that must be stressed to the bustier, buxom women is this: support, support, support! This is the most important tip. We want “the girls” to feel comfortably in place with sufficient support. Not to mention, those properly-supported breasts will give great cleavage to the photos. A definite naughty advantage in the shoot.

Cozy/Comfy Styling for Curves

Refer to my first post and you can apply many of the same rules to your plus-size body. Oversized sweaters or t-shirts that fall off the shoulder give an enticing, teasing look. If you want to embellish a bit, thigh-high socks are a great addition; they can complete a head-to-toe look, still achieving the alluring “comfy” look. No matter the style you aim for, I always prefer softer colors (pastels, off-whites, nude colors,) as they offer a classier, more vulnerable look.

Another comfy look is toplessness paired with jeans or shorts. (Make sure they fit loosely, of course.) Or you can wear your most gorgeous (supportive) bra with those jeans and we will snap your beautiful body in all its glory!

Sexy Styling for Your Body

Part two in my series was about dressing more sexily, and, again, you can follow most of the same guidelines while being plus-size. Every woman should get in touch with their risqué side every now and again. Boudoir photography will draw out your naughtier self, while still keeping things classy. I suggest all women, curvy or not, to wear lacy panties. Lace is timeless, sensual and always sexy. For the panties I suggest a “cheeky” shape. The lighting in my studio will shine perfectly on your booty in that type of panty!

You are certainly not limited to the oversized clothes with panties in a plus-size boudoir photography session. I love how voluptuous women are able to rock different types of lingerie! An example of what would flatter more curvaceous women is a lacy bodysuit. You can get these in lace or cotton– both translate well on camera. If you want to wear a two-piece set, wear high-waisted cheeky panties with a matching bra.
If you need help in finding something great to wear to your plus-size boudoir session, or for anyone’s needs, check out Torrid.

In Your Own Skin

Why not embrace your body to the fullest? Implied nudity does just this. Nothing will be more empowering than to shed to near-nakedness. With this lack of attire, you will cover the private bits with creative posing I will help you with. You’ll feel scandalous if covering your body with a thin bed sheet; you’ll give a come-hither look in your eyes if you’re posing on the floor. Any implied nudity look will give a most desirable effect in such a shoot. No matter what you are (not) wearing, posing will be everything. We will pose you strategically and make sure you feel as sexy as you truly are!

If I could scream it from the rooftops, I would– EVERY body type deserves to be celebrated, rejoiced over, and embraced. Too often, women feel bad for how short, tall, thin, curvy, or different they are. This is what makes boudoir photography so different. It reminds the client that they are strong, gorgeous, and desirable! Check out my previous post with fierce, plus-size women that I got to photograph.

St. Louis Plus Size Boudoir Session

Ashley is a beautiful woman inside and out!

I loved working with Ashley! I was honored to have her in my boudoir photography studio in St Louis earlier this year. She is beyond sweet and beautiful inside and out. Also her bone structure and gorgeous blonde hair… heart eye emoji. Her confidence in her body, being a plus sized woman during this boudoir session, made me so happy!

Her boudoir outfits were on point.

Ashley’s outfits were exactly what I wanted to photograph… beautiful, simple, and fit her personality. I love the denim shirt, high wasted panties, pretty bras, and the large cozy sweater.  I love the finishing touch she brought with the glasses(without lenses) and coffee cups.  I just wish we could have had some Kaldi Coffee in those cups!  (Have you had Kaldi’s??? Oh. My. Gosh. So good).

I wish I looked this beautiful drinking my morning coffee.

Here is what Ashley had to say of her experience with Boudoir by Tracy Lynn:

‘Working with Tracy was an amazing experience. I am my own worst critic especially when it comes to boudoir shoots, but she made me feel so comfortable and relaxed from the moment I walked in.’

‘She is incredible with posing you in ways that are both classy and flattering to your body type and I felt extra confident with her behind the camera. Aside from being a great photographer, she has such a sweet personality and I honestly enjoyed everything about our session…

I am in love with every single image I received from her and I truly can’t wait to work with her again!’
