Boudoir Photo Shoot: What to Wear // Part 2 – Sexy

Planning your wardrobe for a boudoir photo shoot is not as simple as one might believe. There are many different directions to go, each one with rules to follow in order to achieve the look you want. In this post, the second in a three-part series on what to wear for a boudoir photo shoot, we will delve into the sexier side of things.

Lace is a special textile and the perfect go-to when it comes to lingerie. It breeds a feeling of allurement and desire while still being able to look classy, feminine and mysterious. Lace offers a variety of choices to achieve every look. Lacy body suits are my personal favorite. A bra and garter set is also a great choice, with lots of personality!

Lace panties come in every shape and size, with thongs and cheeky styles being the best for pictures (where light can hit the booty perfectly!) When choosing panties, I recommend you to find a bra and panty set. If not a set, get fabric styles and colors that closely match. Dressing in lingerie takes some thought and effort. If you’re having trouble finding exactly what you want, check out Marie Angelique or Kiss Me Lingerie for beautiful products.

Little Details

Less is always more with a boudoir photo shoot aimed at achieving a super-sexy vibe. You can accessorize with simplicity (for example: just a scarf and panties,) and with some creative posing, we’ll really have something good!

Straps make stunning accessories. They may be difficult to work your way into and can take forever to get on right, but the effect is well worth it. The important guideline to take away is to always go with a larger size to ensure there’s no digging in to your skin!

You can incorporate jewelry, but there are a few rules you need to follow. Refer to my first post about a comfy-style boudoir photo shoot to read my thoughts on jewelry.

Things to Stay Away From

Sexy is in the eye of the beholder, but some outfit choices don’t translate well on camera. Corsets, for instance, are very difficult to shoot. Corsets find a way to hug your body in just the wrong way, causing unwanted pinches over the top of the material. In the bedroom they look great, but for pictures we want to avoid anything that appears to be ill-fitted or unflattering.

One preference I have as a boudoir photographer is to steer clear of babydoll nighties. Again: perfect for the bedroom– but unless they’re well-fitted they don’t read well behind the lens. Options for poses will be a lot more limited, even if the nighty fits adoringly.

boudoir photo shoot black lace dress photo/st louis//photo by Boudoir by Tracy Lynn//see more at

(Here is an example of a tight nighty that actually looked really good! It is very fitted though, and doesn’t fall as a babydoll nighty usually does.)

Going “Nude”

Are you feeling bold? Implied nudity is a great way to go for your boudoir photo shoot. You can wear your panties, but we will select a pose so you have the illusion of being naked. You might be concerned it will look tacky, but there’s always a good way to use the lighting and your body to keep it tasteful and classy.

At the end of the day, the reasons behind getting your boudoir photo shoot are far more important than what you’re actually wearing. If for empowerment, you will feel empowered whether you’re donning panties with an oversized sweater or a black lacy bra. If you’re doing it as a creative gift for your significant other, he will appreciate your body no matter what is on it.

Lash Lift STL// Savanah Summer Beauty

I have known Savanah Moore of Savanah Summer Luxury Hair and Makeup  for about a year now.  She is one of the sweetest women I know.  She offers whats called a Lash Lift in her STL Salon in the Central West End in ST. Louis. I have been curious about them and decided to give it a try after seeing so many mutual friends getting them done. I am SO happy I went through with it!  Check out my results! I can’t even believe these are my own lashes!

This will be a GREAT service to have prior to your boudoir session as well.  We want to do everything we can to enhance your features for the camera.  🙂

Lash Lift STL
I can’t believe my results! Also due for my eyebrows wax…don’t judge!

I am not going to lie, I copied and pasted this from her website, but you can find more information and how to contact her at this link.

Lash Lift

Say goodbye to your eyelash curler and hello to luscious, thick, and longer looking lashes!

What is a lash lift?

It’s kind of like a perm for your eyelashes! It’s a safe and low maintenance treatment that curls, lifts, AND tints your natural lashes which gives your eyelashes the appearance of looking longer and fuller. It’s a great alternative to eyelash extensions!

Will this work if I have short lashes?

Yes! If you have short lashes we recommend taking home a lash growth serum after your first treatment to use in between treatments.

Can I use mascara after the treatment?

Yes! You’re free to wear mascara, eyeliner, get them wet, and go about your normal routine 24 hours after the treatment!

Are they eyelash extensions?

They are your natural lashes NOT eyelash extensions! Crazy right!?

Will it harm my lashes?

If the treatment is performed by a trained and certified lash artist it is safe.

How long does the treatment take?

1 hour

How long does it last?

6-8 weeks

How much does it cost?

So how do you contact Savanah?

Boudoir Photo Shoot: What to Wear // Part 1 – Comfy

What you wear to a boudoir photo shoot says a lot about you. It can also say something about the relationship you have with the person you may be doing the shoot for. There are so many different directions you can go with your wardrobe, even a more relaxed, cozy look! How so? Let me give you some ideas on ways you can turn comfort into something sensual!

Everyday Attire

I believe what you wear every day can have as much sex appeal as lingerie. You are what brings the sexy into the shoot. You are what your significant other is attracted to, not the lacy bra you’re posing in! Along with being physically comfortable, clients often feel a lot more at ease and “themselves” if they’re wearing something more comfy. Along with this, it’s a lot less intimidating to wear something familiar. For the photo shoot, I encourage my clients to go for what they usually wear around the house with a little bit of thinking outside the box. I will get into a little more detail over some specific suggestions.

boudoir grey shirt photo/ st louis//photo by Boudoir by Tracy Lynn//see more at boudoirbytracylynn.comboudoir white tee shirt photo/ saint louis//photo by Boudoir by Tracy Lynn//see more at

Oversized Clothes

This is a fun, flirty look that we can turn into something a bombshell would don! A sweater or tee shirt that falls off the shoulder is a wonderful way to cover up but still show a little skin. There are a few rules to follow: to avoid having to worry about adjusting a ton of fabric throughout the session, I recommend the sweater hang no further than right above your booty. Make sure (no matter what you wear) to have sexy panties on! We will subtly reveal them in the shoot. If you need some help finding something appropriate to wear, check out Kiss Me Lingerie or Marie Angelique’s attire.

On the flip side, if you want to wear something tighter that is great too. Only be sure that if you’re wearing a tight tee or cami to make sure the neckline goes low enough to show at least some cleavage. This is a boudoir photo shoot, after all!

boudoir oversized grey sweater photo/ stl//photo by Boudoir by Tracy Lynn//see more at boudoirbytracylynn.comboudoir large sweater photo/ saint louis, mo//photo by Boudoir by Tracy Lynn//see more at

Combining the Essentials

Top, bottom, accessory: This is your classic wardrobe combination. So maybe you do go for the oversized sweater with lacy panties. You’d still be missing something. I love to suggest wearing knee-high socks. They are playful yet delightfully alluring. It’s still way easier and less busy than hose and heels, yet they are fun and highly attractive.

If you decide to go barefoot, that’s totally ok too. I only recommend you splurge on a pedicure and get some paint on those toes!

boudoir white knee high socks photo/ stl//photo by Boudoir by Tracy Lynn//see more at boudoirbytracylynn.comboudoir black knee high socks photo/ saint louis//photo by Boudoir by Tracy Lynn//see more at

Unconventional Comfort

Now, on the other hand, you can completely abandon the classic top/bottom/accessory combo and go with a look a little more special that doesn’t cost you anything in comfort. A great look is the “just jeans” look! You can go braless and you will cover yourself with your arms or the poses I place you in. If you decide to go with the “just jeans” look, be sure to wear a one size larger than your actual size. This totally ensures they’re not too tight and they will give an illusion you are smaller.

Another idea is the body suit. After making a comeback from the 90’s (which I’m so excited about!) body suits are easily attainable (you can snag so many different kinds from your local Forever 21.) All the colors, patterns and textures make for a great shoot.

Little Details

Like the idea of painting your nails if you’re going with “nude” feet, you must consider all aspects of what you want the overall look to be like. Color choice is huge and the color story will vastly differ from person to person depending on skin tone and personality.

What I prefer most often is soft colors, as they give a classy and timeless look that’s more sensual. While you’re going for that “lounging on the couch” look, you don’t want to wear a messy, twenty-year-old band tee, bright green undies and rainbow knee-high socks! Pick complimentary colors.

As for jewelry goes: avoid necklaces! Unless you’re wearing a choker, necklaces always seem to fall in the wrong place and end up being a distraction. Bracelets, rings and earrings make great additions (as long as the earrings are subtle.) Be sure the jewelry choices you make go with your overall style and feel that you’re going for.

Comfy, casual and cozy are not what your mind might go to when thinking about a boudoir photo shoot. A sexy session is, however, more than attainable following the guidelines I have laid out.

Wedding Day Gift// St. Louis Boudoir Photography

What would your groom want most as a wedding day gift?

A flask, a watch, cuff links…. or maybe an album of you in a lot less than your wedding dress?  I am pretty sure a boudoir album would win in most, if not all, cases as a wedding day gift. Bridal boudoir albums are becoming a trend in the wedding industry with good reason. They document a time in your life when you are looking and feeling sexy.white sheets// bridal boudoir// wedding day gift// boudoir by tracy brown// st louis mo

Do all the images have to be serious/sexy?

NO!  I like to incorporate your personality into the images.  Fun flirty, sporty, comfortable and sexy can(and should be) incorporated as well.

Some of my very favorite images come from bridal boudoir images and they have NOTHING to do with bridals! I want your personality to shine through.  Your groom knows you and he wants to see you being you. That’s who he fell in love with and who he is marrying on this special day!

How do I give him the images?!?

There are many different ways you can go about this, but the most popular is what’s commonly known as The Little Black Book.  That’s not what I call it, but we have all heard of them.  Find out more about sessions with me here.

The best time to give him the images are the morning of the wedding when your wedding photographer is there to capture his reaction.  You won’t be there so you need to be able to see what he thinks right???

By the way, do you have a wedding photographer yet? If not check out Laura Ann Miller Photography.  😍sexy bridal boudoir//wedding day gift//st louis mo//Boudoir by Tracy Lynn//

St. Louis Plus Size Boudoir Session

Ashley is a beautiful woman inside and out!

I loved working with Ashley! I was honored to have her in my boudoir photography studio in St Louis earlier this year. She is beyond sweet and beautiful inside and out. Also her bone structure and gorgeous blonde hair… heart eye emoji. Her confidence in her body, being a plus sized woman during this boudoir session, made me so happy!

Her boudoir outfits were on point.

Ashley’s outfits were exactly what I wanted to photograph… beautiful, simple, and fit her personality. I love the denim shirt, high wasted panties, pretty bras, and the large cozy sweater.  I love the finishing touch she brought with the glasses(without lenses) and coffee cups.  I just wish we could have had some Kaldi Coffee in those cups!  (Have you had Kaldi’s??? Oh. My. Gosh. So good).

Here is what Ashley had to say of her experience with Boudoir by Tracy Lynn:

‘Working with Tracy was an amazing experience. I am my own worst critic especially when it comes to boudoir shoots, but she made me feel so comfortable and relaxed from the moment I walked in.’

‘She is incredible with posing you in ways that are both classy and flattering to your body type and I felt extra confident with her behind the camera. Aside from being a great photographer, she has such a sweet personality and I honestly enjoyed everything about our session…

I am in love with every single image I received from her and I truly can’t wait to work with her again!’

Beautiful Scars-Boudoir STL

Beautiful Scars

Guest Writer- Makayla Winkler

Boudoir STL
Scars and Beauty- STL Boudoir

They always say scars tell the best stories, so I’m going to tell you about mine.

December 7th, 2015 will be a day I never forget. At 9:10 am, I was in a car wreck, leaving me with a broken femur, fractured hip,and fractured pelvis. I was air lifted into emergency surgery, where I woke up with 5 new scars, and plenty of permanent hardware in my leg-a rod, 2 plates, and countless screws.

As a model and barrel racer, my entire world was turned upside down. I thought life as I previously knew it was over. No one wants to hire a model with 2 very visible 8 inch scars on her leg. I was also told that I would probably never be able to competitively barrel race again, if even ride a horse without pain. I didn’t know what to do.

I was ordered 3 months bed rest from my doctor, which is more than enough time to sit and think about my new, boring life. As much as I tried to laugh and joke about everything with the people around me, I was broken just as much on the inside as I was on the outside.

Depression was a real thing for me. I no longer felt beautiful or strong, and considering I couldn’t even take a shower without help, my independence was ripped away from me as well. It was hard to take. I will forever be grateful for my parents and my boyfriend at the time, Zach. I wouldn’t have made it without them.

About 2 months into bed rest, I started to see the light at the end of the tunnel. I knew that I was supposed to be released soon if all went well. Determination set in. I was determined that I was going to make the best of a bad situation. I was going to prove everyone wrong and come back stronger than ever. I had a lot of talks with God throughout the healing process, and I felt that it was time for me to turn this experience into something I could be proud of at the end of this journey.

I did my therapy without help at home, mostly me practicing swinging a leg over a saddle and cleaning stalls. The day I got released I wanted to know I could come home and be able to get on a horse, where I am the most happy. Things went well, and I was released early, conveniently a few days before a barrel race. Those who know me, know that I am impatient, hard headed, and maybe a little crazy about competing. My horses weren’t in shape of course, so graciously, as always, Terresa Sanders let me run her gelding. My first run back felt amazing, looked pretty good, and I felt like I was on top of the world.

My next step was to conquer modeling again, but more importantly, regain my confidence. One of the biggest tasks of rocking a session, besides a great photographer, is confidence. You have to feel great to look good. At that time, when I looked in the mirror, all I could see was what 3 months of bed rest had done to my body. Along with the new scars, I had also gained a few pounds, plus lost some muscle tone. When I looked in the mirror, I didn’t feel like I even knew the girl looking back.

My first shoot back was with STL Boudoir Photographer, Tracy Lynn. I remember how nervous I was for her to finally come see my new scars in person, the scars that were going to make her job more difficult, and possibly make my job nonexistent. My leg still didn’t work like it used to, and I remember this shoot seeming to have more challenging poses than I had done at the time, not to mention we were outside in a creek bed, and I was wearing 4 inch heels. I felt like I was letting her down. As always though, Tracy made me feel beautiful! We laughed, joked, had a great time, and from what I saw on the back of the camera, got some killer shots. By the end of the day I was feeling great again, and I couldn’t wait to see the photos after retouching.A day or two later, when she posted the first one, I was thrilled. The images were gorgeous!

Boudoir STL
Beautiful Scars- Boudoir STL

Shortly after that first shoot was posted, girls quickly let me know that I didn’t look as great as I felt. I’m aware that there will always be people critiquing you and as a model, I was prepared for it, but at a time when I needed to be built up more than ever, people were doing their absolute best to tear me down. I would be lying if I said it didn’t get the best of me for a while. I thought to myself that just maybe they were right and I’m not pretty enough to model.

But you know what, the first thing I see in the mirror every morning when I wake up is my scars, and, in a way, I have grown to love them. They have made me into the person I am today. I know my strength and determination. I know I am a good person and friend. And, I know, despite the negative comments they have stirred up, or the strange conversations they have started, I am so thankful for the new found confidence my scars have given me.

If I have learned one thing on this crazy journey I have been on this past year, it’s that life is too short to worry about making everyone happy or getting more “likes” than your friends on Facebook. And it is definitely too short to let someone else determine your happiness or limit you.

No matter what, set high goals for yourself, and do whatever it takes to reach them. And while you’re on your own journey don’t be afraid to eat the last piece of cake, drink too many margaritas, or dye your hair a crazy color. And most importantly, embrace your scars and imperfections. They are what make you who you are and that really is a beautiful thing.
