“If you can’t tone it, tan it.” It may not be the most tactful phrase, it’s something my Aunts used to say all the time. This phrase comes to mind anytime I’m about to have professional photos taken for myself. And I always recommend a tan for a boudoir session.
A Tan for a Boudoir Session
A camera will wash you out and make you look even more pale. With a tan, your skin will glow! Yes, I want you to have a tan for your session. No, I’m not asking you to tan in the tanning bed. It’s 2021 and there are alternatives to laying in a tanning bed. I, myself, have fair skin and am prone to skin cancer. For this reason, I have become an anti-tanning bed.
The best option- spray tan! I love this option- no skin cancer, no premature aging, no tan lines, your skin pops, and it washes off in a few days.
Just Fakin’ Tans
My favorite spray tan is Missy with Just Fakin’ Tans! Missy is a certified spray tan expert located in Columbia, Illinois. She offers customized airbrush tans, including contouring! Yes, contouring! Contouring enhances or slims certain body parts… Amazing, right? I recommend scheduling your tan 2 days before your session. A custom spray tan guarantees a flawless, even tan that will look gorgeous in photos!

Alternatives for your tan
If Missy is not within a short distance from you, I recommend the Versa Spa or Mystic Tan. Both of these spray tans yield a natural, glowing tan. Multiple locations make them a convenient choice! It may be wise to do a trial session to ensure you get that perfect color. The best part about these spray tans is that they are quick, easy, and cheap!
You won’t regret it.
These days, most tans look very natural, even if you don’t typically tan very well. To get the most out of your boudoir session, I definitely recommend at least a light tan so that you have that beautiful, natural glow.
