For this blog post, I want to talk about self love for my curvy women in the form of a plus size boudoir photoshoot. In all honesty, I don’t even like writing it out that way: “plus size boudoir photoshoot,” but I’m going to leave it for SEO purposes. Thanks google.
I don’t believe that a boudoir session depends on size. Every woman is beautiful just the way she is. And every single one of us, regardless of size has something we don’t like about ourselves.
But a boudoir photoshoot can give a woman confidence she wouldn’t have otherwise had.
Plus Size Boudoir Photoshoot
Samantha is one of my sweetest clients. Every time she’s walked in the studio, you can feel the room just lighten up. I’m not exaggerating. But because she is curvy, she’s had some haters on Instagram. She still doesn’t let that get her down and I LOVE this about her.
She had one very mean DM a few weeks ago. In response to that, she posted the best Instagram caption, which I’m including below.

I had someone inform me that I should save my money and stop doing photoshoots in lingerie because they are meant for attractive women…not fat girls trying to look hot. Well to that I say size doesn’t make someone more or less attractive. I will always be more attractive than you because I refuse to hate someone for how they look! ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
My entire life I have been the big girl, the tall girl with curves even at the age of 11! Society has programmed it into our minds that plus size girls should cover up. Stores for the longest time didn’t carry anything cute in my size which made me feel like I didn’t deserve to dress cute because I wasn’t a “normal” size. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
It took me years, I’m talking 10+ years to get to the point of loving myself at any size and stage of life! My size doesn’t decide if I’m worthy. It doesn’t decide if I’m a good person. My size, no matter what the number on the scale says…doesn’t get to decide if I’m beautiful!!!
Empowering women every day
As far as we’ve come in society, the fact that comments like “stop doing photoshoots in lingerie because they are meant for attractive women…not fat girls trying to look hot” still happen make me really sad.
So, I’m going to continue to do my part in showing women their beauty through boudoir photos.
If you’ve considered a boudoir session, but have questioned whether you should due to your size or shape, just know that I photograph women of every size.
I know posing and lighting to flatter any body type. I know how to make women feel extremely comfortable while walking around with little(or no) clothing on. You won’t have to worry about a thing, even if you don’t have modeling experience.
