When I have a plus size woman contact me, she always brings up her size. This makes me so sad because it honestly doesn’t matter to me what a woman looks like, what size she is, or what her body type is. My job is to help a woman see herself the way I see her, and learn to love herself, exactly how she is.
Amanda is a BEAUTIFUL woman inside and out. She contacted me for a session about a year ago. She and two of her friends booked boudoir sessions on the same day and made it a girls’ day. We had so much fun and even ended the session with a group shot of all three of them.
Now remember, her session was a year ago, so she may be working a different job, but at the time, she was a nurse at a nursing home. I think this may be one of the harder jobs you can have. I used to work as a dental hygienist in a nursing home. Let me tell you, it was tough seeing those patients in the conditions they were in. I commend anyone who works this type of job full time.
This session was for her to really see herself as beautiful. I feel like we accomplished that at her session.
Plus Size Outfit Prep
I am all about loving your body the way it is, so I recommend bringing the same outfits I suggest for regular sessions. If you have areas you’re extra self conscious about, we can hide those with strategic posing. All that being said though, be sure to check out my blog, What to Wear: Plus Size. It’s an older post, but still applies.
I love Torrid, although, their underwear tends to be full coverage. I like thongs or cheekies for underwear, so check out my Amazon Store here. I have some plus size outfits tagged there.
I always recommend a bodysuit, but again, watch the underwear on those. Thongs are more flattering for bodysuits.
I know Amanda’s session helped her to see herself as beautiful. Like I said in the beginning of this post, I don’t see size when I photograph sessions. I see the person and their beauty.
Amanda, thank you so much for allowing me to photograph you. I had so much fun!
