Boudoir Photo Session: 8 Questions

I love the “Ask me anything” feature on Instagram stories. A few months ago, I asked, “What do you want to know about a boudoir photo session?” and got so many questions. I answered them at the time, but I thought today would be a good day to revisit that question.
Quickly though, I want to apologize for something.
Sometimes I forget when I do the question thing and I go about my day, forgetting about social media because social media is never my priority. Then, I totally leave people hanging. I’ve done that multiple times, and I want to take this time to apologize.
I’m sorry.
Great, that’s off my chest. So, what questions were asked about a boudoir session?
- Who will see your photos?
- How far in advance to book your boudoir session?
- The average age of clients?
- I have curves. Will this be an issue?
- Will you need to know how to pose for the boudoir session or will I help?
- What should I wear?
- Would I rather shoot a curvey girl or skinny?
- How do I make a modest client feel comfortable, especially at the first boudoir session?
I’ll answer these today.
Who will see your photos?
This is totally up to you.
Do you want them to be shared on social media? Would you rather keep them private for just you and your man? Maybe it’s best for your job(or future jobs) that they aren’t shared?
These are your photos. I’ll respect whatever you choose!
Your photos will never be shared unless you specifically ask me, and I won’t ask to use them in my portfolio. Find out all about my privacy policy for boudoir sessions here.

How far in advance to book your boudoir photo session?
I do have a super quick turn around, but I also stay booked about 1 month out.
Contacting me to set up your consult about 3 months in advance is ideal so we have plenty of time to photograph your boudoir session. This way you’ll definitely have your album in your hands when you need it.

Average age of clients?
The majority of my clients are brides, so the average age is around 25-30.
Don’t let that scare you though. I have several clients who are 35+ and usually at least one a month who is 50+.
I promise, no matter your age, I can show you how beautiful you are just as you are.

You have curves. Will this be an issue?
“You can be sexy and feel good in your skin, no matter what size you are.” -Ashley Graham
You can ask most of my clients… if you have curves, I know how to flatter your body.
Women are supposed to have curves!
I’ve been specially trained for all body types, so you have NOTHING to worry about.
An important thing to note with curves though is planning what to wear will be important. It’s easier to flatter your curves during your boudoir photo session if your outfits fit well! Check out this blog post for outfit ideas for curvy women.

Will you need to know how to pose for the boudoir photo session or will I help?
I will pose you from head to toe, including your expression. Posing and lighting are my specialty!
The only thing you need to worry about is bringing the best possible outfits and pre-session prep such as spray tans, mani/pedi, and drinking a ton of water so your skin will glow.

What should you wear?
Oh my gosh, I have so much information on this topic.
Definitely bring a bodysuit with thong or cheeky booty, 3-4 bra and panty sets(the underwear should be thongs or cheeky and one size larger than you normally wear), and an off the shoulder sweater, your man’s button up shirt, or maybe a tank top.
“I think there’s something incredibly sexy about a woman wearing her boyfriend’s T-shirt and underwear.” -Calvin Klein
Super high heels are important as well and maybe grab a pair of these knit socks from my Amazon store.

Would I rather shoot a curvey girl or skinny?
The generic answer would be I love to photograph all body types, right?
It’s true though. Any body-type can look feminine and beautiful. I love that I get to show each woman that comes into my studio how gorgeous they are through great posing and lighting.
Curves are beautiful, but so are the super-thin body types and the average-sized woman. Each has its challenges, but it’s so much fun to be able to bring out the beauty in every woman.

How do you make a modest client feel comfortable, especially at the first boudoir photo session?
First, mimosas.
Then, we get to know each other a bit while going through your outfit options. At that point, we make a plan for the rest of your boudoir session.
I’ve mentioned before I have “Ice-breaker” poses that I start every session with. These poses look great on every body type and are meant to get you comfortable super quickly.
After we get through those poses, most women completely trust me and we’re able to get through the rest of the session really easily and create BEAUTIFUL photos.

Conclusion
I hope going through those question and answers helped you feel more comfortable about a potential boudoir session with Boudoir by Tracy Lynn.
Your comfort during the session is my main priority. I’ll help you look and feel gorgeous through beautiful posing and lighting so that you get the album of your dreams!
