Balancing health and happiness

I’ve talked about Gillian of many, many times. She is the guru on balancing health and happiness in your life.

Gillian and are kind of a big deal in STL. She’s the go-to fitness coach for women in the area and she is AMAZING at what she does.

But here’s a story she talked about on her Instagram a few days ago.

“Trying to be fit was making me crazy.

I’m here to tell you a little story about my health and fitness journey. My love for fitness was destroying my health and happiness.

Nine years ago, I was an absolute nut- writing down every single morsel of food I put in my mouth. Driving myself crazy with calculations, I was weighing myself numerous times a day, and trying to cram as much gym time into my schedule as a busy, working mom.

In turn, these behaviors led to poor sleep, out of control hormone issues, and binge-restrict patterned eating.

I was in a really dark and lonely place.

I never took invitations to hang out with friends for fear that I would come off my diet or have to miss a workout.

This behavior all started for me when I began my journey in the fitness industry in 2007. I was a success story for a weight loss product and was featured in magazines and on TV.

The stress and pressure of feeling that I needed to look very lean and tiny lead me to very unhealthy behaviors. I was burdened by hours and hours of cardio in an attempt to burn off calories consumed during binges due to the enormous amount of pressure I felt.”

The pregnancy of her second child woke her up and helped her pay attention to her health.

“I had to stop dieting and over exercising for the sake of my baby and the actual physical changes during that pregnancy corrected many of the hormonal and metabolic issues that I had created for myself through the years of terrible lifestyle habits that I believed were healthy and necessary to be fit.

When my daughter was born, I vowed to be a positive example to her in a world with intense societal pressures to look a certain way, more now than when I was growing up.

I couldn’t continue my unhealthy habits and allow her to think this was how she should live her life too so I followed a long road to health and now at almost 40 years old, I tell you with full confidence that maintaining my shape is a cinch.

Now, I eat foods that I love and workout because I love it and it is truly something I enjoy- it is no longer a burden.”

The Momshell Method

“I turned this lifestyle into the “Momshell Method.” I coach other busy women (not just moms) and teach them the same healthy habits. In turn, they can achieve their goal body. It helps them stop unhealthy and obsessive behaviors that do not help in living a fit and healthy lifestyle.

If it looks easy now, it’s because it became that way out of habit. I don’t panic over upcoming social occasions. For photoshoot prep, I don’t diet, and I don’t look in the mirror wanting to change everything.

If your quest to lose weight is stressing you out- STOP! You’re likely doing more harm than good!

The bottom line: Motivation comes and goes. Junk food and treats will always be there. The freedom of not having to obsess over every meal and workout has given me so much valuable time to spend doing the things that I love.”

Boudoir Photo Session: 8 Questions

I love the “Ask me anything” feature on Instagram stories. A few months ago, I asked, “What do you want to know about a boudoir photo session?” and got so many questions. I answered them at the time, but I thought today would be a good day to revisit that question.

Blog: Boudoir photo session: 8 questions// by Boudoir by Tracy Lynn// See more at

black body suit//laying boudoir pose//zebra rug//nuetral hair and makeup

Quickly though, I want to apologize for something.

Sometimes I forget when I do the question thing and I go about my day, forgetting about social media because social media is never my priority. Then, I totally leave people hanging. I’ve done that multiple times, and I want to take this time to apologize.

I’m sorry.

Great, that’s off my chest. So, what questions were asked about a boudoir session?

  • Who will see your photos?
  • How far in advance to book your boudoir session?
  • The average age of clients?
  • I have curves. Will this be an issue?
  • Will you need to know how to pose for the boudoir session or will I help?
  • What should I wear?
  • Would I rather shoot a curvey girl or skinny?
  • How do I make a modest client feel comfortable, especially at the first boudoir session?

I’ll answer these today.

Who will see your photos?

This is totally up to you.

Do you want them to be shared on social media? Would you rather keep them private for just you and your man? Maybe it’s best for your job(or future jobs) that they aren’t shared?

These are your photos. I’ll respect whatever you choose!

Your photos will never be shared unless you specifically ask me, and I won’t ask to use them in my portfolio. Find out all about my privacy policy for boudoir sessions here.

How far in advance to book your boudoir photo session?

I do have a super quick turn around, but I also stay booked about 1 month out.

Contacting me to set up your consult about 3 months in advance is ideal so we have plenty of time to photograph your boudoir session. This way you’ll definitely have your album in your hands when you need it.

Need a quicker turnaround? Email me at and I’ll see what I can do.

Average age of clients?

The majority of my clients are brides, so the average age is around 25-30.

Don’t let that scare you though. I have several clients who are 35+ and usually at least one a month who is 50+.

I promise, no matter your age, I can show you how beautiful you are just as you are.

You have curves. Will this be an issue?

You can be sexy and feel good in your skin, no matter what size you are.” -Ashley Graham

You can ask most of my clients… if you have curves, I know how to flatter your body.

Women are supposed to have curves!

I’ve been specially trained for all body types, so you have NOTHING to worry about.

An important thing to note with curves though is planning what to wear will be important. It’s easier to flatter your curves during your boudoir photo session if your outfits fit well! Check out this blog post for outfit ideas for curvy women.

Will you need to know how to pose for the boudoir photo session or will I help?

I will pose you from head to toe, including your expression. Posing and lighting are my specialty!

The only thing you need to worry about is bringing the best possible outfits and pre-session prep such as spray tans, mani/pedi, and drinking a ton of water so your skin will glow.

What should you wear?

Oh my gosh, I have so much information on this topic.

Definitely bring a bodysuit with thong or cheeky booty, 3-4 bra and panty sets(the underwear should be thongs or cheeky and one size larger than you normally wear), and an off the shoulder sweater, your man’s button up shirt, or maybe a tank top.

“I think there’s something incredibly sexy about a woman wearing her boyfriend’s T-shirt and underwear.” -Calvin Klein

Super high heels are important as well and maybe grab a pair of these knit socks from my Amazon store.

Here are a few of my blogs you can check out with more in depth detail about this topic for boudoir sessions.

Would I rather shoot a curvey girl or skinny?

The generic answer would be I love to photograph all body types, right?

It’s true though. Any body-type can look feminine and beautiful. I love that I get to show each woman that comes into my studio how gorgeous they are through great posing and lighting.

Curves are beautiful, but so are the super-thin body types and the average-sized woman. Each has its challenges, but it’s so much fun to be able to bring out the beauty in every woman.

How do you make a modest client feel comfortable, especially at the first boudoir photo session?

First, mimosas.

Then, we get to know each other a bit while going through your outfit options. At that point, we make a plan for the rest of your boudoir session.

I’ve mentioned before I have “Ice-breaker” poses that I start every session with. These poses look great on every body type and are meant to get you comfortable super quickly.

After we get through those poses, most women completely trust me and we’re able to get through the rest of the session really easily and create BEAUTIFUL photos.

STL Wedding: The Perfect Groom’s Gift

Boudoir photography is trending in the STL wedding scene yet many people aren’t exactly sure what boudoir photography is. It’s is essentially all about you, feeling and looking stunning and sexy while cultivating some fierce confidence!

While boudoir is really whatever you want it to be, bridal boudoir is for brides who want photographs of themselves in lingerie for their groom at what will most likely be the time at which you are your most beautiful and glamorous.

Albums are the usual way to gift the photos and grooms love this.

Once you decide that bridal boudoir is for you, here are a few tips and tricks that will get you the best boudoir photos for your STL wedding gift for your groom.

Blog post: stl wedding: the perfect groom's gift by Boudoir by Tracy Lynn// boudoir pose laying on messy bed//See more at

Prepping for your STL wedding bridal boudoir session

As far as when to schedule your bridal boudoir session, I advise that brides book their session about 2-3 months prior to your wedding at the latest. This not only gives plenty of time for retouching and ordering the album, but it will also ensure that your album is delivered and ready for your groom come your big day.

Blog post: stl wedding: the perfect groom's gift by Boudoir by Tracy Lynn// boudoir pose laying on messy bed//louboutin heels//See more at

What to wear

For your boudoir outfits, bring more than enough along with you. Along with quintessential bridal look of the white lace bra and panty set, bring along a white bodysuit- really gorgeous and on-trend.

A slightly more subtle but sexy outfit that brides love is a cute sweater paired with lace underwear and tall knit socks. Be sure to also bring something that is sentimental and unique to your man with an added feminine twist, perhaps his button-down oxford paired with black lace lingerie.

There are so many different combinations that can look amazing; just make sure that you go one size up so everything lays perfectly and nothing is too snug. You can find more information on fitting your outfits here.

Accessories for your STL wedding groom’s gift

Accessories are a really fun way to glam up your boudoir photos. Definitely bring along your engagement ring and maybe even your veil to add to one of your outfits.

You may want to bring in a sentimental necklace for some of the shots. I would recommend taking off your necklace for lying down poses though.

Finally, my favorite accessory, bring along your highest of high heels as they’ll lengthen your legs to get you the best shots!

Prepping for your session

Now that you know what to bring along, here’s some advice on what to do beforehand to really shine during your session.

Starting one week before your session, be sure that you are exfoliating as smooth, pretty skin is very important in boudoir photos.

Speaking of skin, if you are a waxer, go several days to a week before your session to avoid bumpy, irritated skin.

Also, one week prior, be sure your hair is photo-ready with a fresh trim. Don’t do anything drastic though. You look and feel your best when you look like yourself!

The 24 hours before your session, go ahead and get that last spray tan. I only recommend this for brides who have tested spray tanning before though.

The morning of your session

The morning of your session, be sure to drink a lot of water and eat a light breakfast or lunch so that you have the energy for those beautiful poses. Be sure to shower to wash off any excess spray tan to get your tan looking perfect and natural.

Come to your session with a clean face and hair and loose clothing to avoid any indentations on your skin.

Last but not least, be sure to bring your outfits and accessories!

Saint Louis boudoir session: 4 reasons to book today

Ali booked her first Saint Louis boudoir session with me 2 years ago. I can’t even believe it’s been that long.

At the time, she was turning 39 and was ready for a boost in her self-confidence. She’d had a lot of personal life changes and felt this was the perfect time to feel beautiful again.

Since then, she’s had TWO other boudoir sessions with me. Every time I see her I can just see the growth since the first time I met her.

I’m not saying boudoir sessions are life-changing, but I do think they can shift your perspective, which in turn CAN change your life.

Based on Ali’s experience, there are 4 reasons to book your session today.

Saint Louis boudoir session: 4 reasons to book your session// blog by boudoir by Tracy Lynn of St. Louis, MO//boudoir posing on bed with sheets//see more at

By the way, if you don’t want to read this blog post, scroll to the bottom to see a video of exactly what she thought of her Saint Louis boudoir session.

Ali’s favorite part of her Saint Louis boudoir session

Ali has come to know my hair and makeup artists super well. Kendra was her artist in the last two sessions, which definitely helps put clients at ease. They know they can trust her because she knows her stuff.

Having your hair and makeup done is the perfect way to relax before the session, plus seeing the transformation from beautiful woman to a model is super fun.

She mentioned that I was able to put her at ease immediately at the first session, which made the next two sessions really comfortable.

Seeing the beautiful final images is the icing on the cake of a great/relaxing/confidence-boosting experience. Being able to see yourself as a gorgeous woman can really change your perspective.

Saint Louis boudoir session: 4 reasons to book your session// blog by boudoir by Tracy Lynn of St. Louis, MO//see more at //black bra white button up shirt//sitting boudoir pose

The scariest part of the Saint Louis boudoir session didn’t last long.

“The scariest part of the session didn’t last very long because Tracy made me feel so comfortable. I was nervous about being half naked in front of a photographer,” Ali states in the video.

I’ve mentioned it before, but I have “ice breaker poses” that I literally developed to help get clients comfortable with me in front of the camera very quickly. These poses are great for every body type and don’t require a lot of expressions since most aren’t ready for that at the beginning of the session.

We also go through all of your outfit options and photograph your session in a way that will help each outfit flatter you in the best way possibly.

I’ve photographed 400+ sessions in three years just in St. Louis at this point(not counting my previous experience), so I know body types, angles, lighting, and all the things that will help you look your best in the images. You can put your trust in me for your Saint Louis boudoir session.

Boosting confidence with a boudoir session

Ali said multiple times in her testimonial video how the boudoir session came at exactly the right time. She was going through some major life changes and it helped her see herself as beautiful.

I hear this so often from clients, how a boudoir session will change your life. One of my clients changed her career completely because she felt so much more confident in herself. How cool is that?

The movement to empower women

According to Wikipedia, women’s empowerment is the process in which women elaborate and recreate what it is that they can be, do, and accomplish in a circumstance that they previously were denied.

A boudoir session could be the first step in empowering you to go to the next level in life, maybe through a new career, your health/fitness, or just becoming a mentally stronger you. It gives you so much confidence in yourself by just realizing you are a strong beautiful woman just the way you are.

After her third session with me, Ali agreed to do a testimonial video, although she was nervous! I love what she had to say about her Saint Louis boudoir session.

A boudoir session is a day of celebrating YOU. Although you may feel nervous right before the session, by the end of the day, you will have a boost of confidence that leaves you feeling like the most beautiful woman in the world, ready to accomplish anything life throws at you!

Social media for photographers: how to save time

I’ve found there are two types of photography businesses on social media. Those who post super sporadically and a lot at once, typically while they’re retouching photos, and those who post on a super strict schedule.

I used to be the sporadic poster. It was mentally exhausting and not beneficial to my business. There are definitely better, more productive ways to do social media.

Now, I schedule my social media out the month before in one day and can work on my business the rest of my month, rather than in my business.

"social media is just a buzzword until you come up with a plan." -Unknown quote
Blog by Boudoir by Tracy Lynn covering scheduling of social media for photographers. See more at

I want to discuss why having a social media workflow works so well for a business, when and how to schedule out your social media, and specifically which programs to use.

Why schedule social media

“A plan is what, a schedule is when. It takes both a plan and a schedule to get things done.” – Peter Turla

First, let’s talk about something you already know.

Everyone’s on social media. It’s necessary for businesses to have one in order to stay front and center in the minds of potential clients. If used right, it’s super beneficial to your business. It’s like a daily reminder for them that you’re around.

No, I don’t think you should rely on social media ONLY. I think investing your time into building your email list is way more important in the long run.

You hear it all the time, “The email list is the only thing you OWN. You don’t own your followers on Facebook or Instagram.”

But, you still need social media in some capacity. I’ve heard over and over and I’m sure you have to, a potential client has to hear/see your message at least seven times before they take action and buy from you or book your service.

That’s where social media comes into play. That daily reminder that you are there and ready to serve them.

Yes daily. Don’t let them forget you.

Scheduling posts for social media

There are several different ways to schedule your posts. I personally use Later for Instagram because it allows you to schedule stories, whcih are important in your social media plan, but more on that on another day.

Later//Blog by Boudoir by Tracy Lynn covering scheduling of social media for photographers. See more at

The great thing about Later is that it’ll post most of your regular posts for you. It’s the only app I have found that can do that.

I’m not someone who’s on Instagram or Facebook all the time and if you follow my personal profiles, you will know I rarely ever post, so something that posts FOR me is very important to me.

It doesn’t post stories though. It sends a reminder for you to post the story, but it’s a simple 3-4 click process.

Another good thing about this app is the fact that it tells you the optimal times to post, the times when your followers are most likely to be on the app to see it. We all know the algorithm is going to show the posts with the most interaction, so it’s important to post at the times your followers will be able to see/comment/like the post.

This brings me to another point. As much as you don’t want to, you have to interact on the post for a while in order to stay visible for potential clients. This part isn’t my favorite, but I do try to comment back for a few hours on each post.

Other options

I love Later. The price isn’t bad, I can plan for the entire month including stories, and it keeps what I have posted separate from images I haven’t posted. Really, that’s only important for the Instagram Top Nine at the end of the year, but I also don’t like to repost images more than once a year if I can avoid it.

Other options I have looked into, but they just don’t fit my needs at the moment are Buffer, CoSchedule, Sendible, Hootsuite, Meet Edgar, Planoly, and Tailwind. I know there are others, but these are a few I’ve looked into in the past.

Your needs may be different than mine, so check out all the options for sure. Then, make a decision, stick with it, and be consistent.

What about Facebook?

Facebook has its own scheduling tool. It’s a pain, but I spend the few extra minutes to copy and paste my posts from Instagram and change them up as needed. Facebook seems to prefer if you schedule directly from their site.

There are options such as CoSchedule, Sendible, and Hootsuite to schedule your posts out, but I’m not sure it’s worth the risk of Facebook not showing your content by using another app.

Facebook//Blog by Boudoir by Tracy Lynn covering scheduling of social media for photographers. See more at

And Pinterest?

I mentioned Tailwind above. You’d think I’d use it for Instagram since I use it for Pinterest, but I don’t. It just doesn’t make sense for me yet. Maybe in the future though.

I love Tailwind for Pinterest because it can pin your content from your website on several different boards, which keeps your content posting all the time. Like most of the other apps, it will give you the optimum times for your audience so that you stay top of mind for your potential clients.

With Pinterest it’s not so important how many followers you have, but more important that posts are being seen.

Honestly, I don’t get a huge flow to my website from Pinterest, but I do get some traffic which makes it worth it to me since it doesn’t take a lot of time to pin the images.

Most of the previously mentioned companies will also schedule your pins as well.

Tailwind App// Blog by Boudoir by Tracy Lynn covering scheduling of social media for photographers. See more at

“Don’t worry; skills are cheap, passion is priceless. If you’re passionate about your content and you know it and do it better than anyone else, even with few formal business skills you have the potential to create a million-dollar business.” -Gary Vee, Author of Crush It

If that quote doesn’t motivate you, I’m not sure what will.

As we discussed before, it takes a potential client SEVEN times hearing your message before they’ll take action and book you. Staying top of mind on social media is so important because of this.

Coming up with a social media scheduling plan and workflow will not only help you get more $#!& done the rest of the month because you have time to work ON your business, but it’ll also help keep your books full because your potential client is seeing you ALL. THE. TIME.

The extra bit of work at one time is worth the productivity you will achieve later. Promise.

"You will never find time for anything. If you want time, you must make it." Quote. Blog by Boudoir by Tracy Lynn covering scheduling of social media for photographers. See more at

Boudoir Album Design: The process

Printing photos is one of those things I’m super passionate about. That’s why I take the boudoir album design process so seriously. I want your album to be one of those things you cherish forever.

“A photograph doesn’t feel real until it is a tangible physical object I can hold in my hand.” – Stephen Johnson

I’m sure you’ve heard the saying that this generation will be the most photographed generation with no photos to show for it in ten years. I firmly believed that five years ago, but with companies like Social Print Studio making it easy to print directly from Instagram, I feel as though that trend is improving

I am so thankful that people are printing more photos again. It doesn’t even matter if those photos are art. What matters is having those memories later when the kids are grown up, or their grandparents are gone and you want to look back on those images.

Printing Stats

Here are two stats about printing photos that I found interesting.

  • It’s estimated that less than 1 out of 100,000 photographs taken today actually ends up being a printed photograph.
  • It’s been estimated that in the past 5 years, more photos have been taken than all the prior years combined.

I’m going to play devil’s advocate here though. Honestly, a good percentage of the photos taken don’t need to be printed. They’re probably Snapchat photos with goofy faces or photos of food, or something else not necessarily worthy of being printed.

photo of daughter with dad and grandpa//see more at

But there are things that are worth printing. Your wedding photos for one. Or the photo of your child with his/her grandma that may not be here next week. The photo of your husband holding your baby for the very first time. Things that are important.

Things like the boudoir album design I so meticulously planned out after your boudoir session. The one you worked so hard to prep for. Your boudoir session deserves more than being saved on your phone, where you could lose it next week.

Ordering session process

Lot’s of client’s ask about the ordering session process. It’s super simple on your part. We meet online via Zoom after I have gone through the images.

You’ll end up seeing between 60-120 images and we will go through them one by one until we narrow it down to your very favorite images. This can take between 30 minutes and 2 hours. However long it takes until we have the exact album you dreamed!

Blog post: Boudoir album design: The process. By Boudoir by Tracy Lynn// boudoir album photo//boudoir album//high end boudoir album with box//See more at

Boudoir album design process

After the ordering session, I send the photos off to my retoucher. She’s AMAZING. Once they come back, I sit down at my computer and review them myself to make sure they are up to my standards.

Once I have approved them I start the boudoir album design process! I have a very specific style with my albums, which you can view in the gallery section of my website.

Outfit, certain poses, specific sets, and the mood or vibe all play a role in how the album is set up. I prefer sexy/serious on the same spread and then playful flirty in a separate spread. It’s better to have the same or similar outfits on one spread than to have the outfits all over the place in the album.

Why? Because the album tells a story!

One important thing to know about my brand is that my turnaround time is very quick. You’ll mostly likely have your album in your hands with in 3-6 weeks, depending on what you order.

Quick turnaround time is very important to me. We live in a time of instant gratification after all.

“Photography helps people to see.” – Berenice Abbott

Although it’s time-consuming and seems unimportant at the time, I want to encourage you to print your phone photos. That’s what you are using every day. I know that. You know that. You won’t want to lose those important moments because you were too lazy to take a few minutes to order them. While you’re at it, back those photos up in several places as well.

That goes for your boudoir photos too. I highly recommend letting me design and order your boudoir album. But back up the digital files that come with your album, also!

STL Wedding Dress: 3 shops you want to check out

Most brides purchase their wedding dress eleven months before their wedding. Have you started looking yet? If not, I have some great suggestions for your STL wedding dress purchase.

And no it’s not clearance racks, Monica.

via Gfycat

By the way, this article will probably be full of Friends’ GIFs. Sorry?

On her wedding day, a woman should be certain she has found a dress that makes her feel confident, and above all else, beautiful.” – Carolina Herrera

Weird facts about wedding dresses

I thought this would be a fun and interesting thing to research and I wasn’t disappointed.

  • 1.85 miles: The length of the world’s longest wedding gown train. I may not be happy if you bring that kind of train to your boudoir session and expect me to photograph it.
  • The average price of a wedding dress is $1,564.
  • 18% of brides buy their dresses online(I’m not sure I could do that).
  • 14% of brides show the groom their dress before the wedding.

I don’t think I would want to show my groom my wedding dress. Save those emotions for the wedding day. I mean look at Chandler. Would you want to miss out on that?

Tasteful Boudoir: Why, How, Where, and When?

The first time I had ever heard of boudoir photography was when I started photographing clients. Seriously, I had no idea what it was before then. I was super sheltered growing up, by the way. My first thought was there’s no way that someone can shoot tasteful boudoir photos. And then my parents will never understand when I tell them what I am doing!

Honestly, I still don’t think my parents understand, but they are a bit old school. Also, it’s 2019 and I am a grown woman and can photograph what I want. 💁🏼‍♀️

The important thing to me is showing women their true beauty in a beautiful, classy, and tasteful way in a time when all we are seeing is overly filtered photos on social media.

“A girl should be two things: classy and fabulous.” -Coco Chanel

So, today, I want to talk to you about common boudoir misconceptions, prepping for a session, what a session with me is like, and when to have and why you SHOULD book a boudoir session. We have a lot to cover. ☺️

Boudoir misconceptions

Have you said any of these things to yourself?

  • I’m not pretty or sexy enough for a boudoir session.
  • Only models are photographed like that.
  • That photo HAS to be a model.
  • I won’t be able to get the expression for a boudoir session.
  • Boudoir photos are not classy or tasteful.

I’m here to prove you wrong on every item on that list today. Although, I do photograph SOME STL influencers(Maddie, Vi, Gillian), my every day clients and women on my social media and in my portfolio, are normal women who have never been in front of a camera before. With great posing, beautiful lighting, good expression, and the right clothes, every woman can look like a classy model in her tasteful boudoir images.

Prepping for a classy and tasteful boudoir session

It’s very important to prep well for a boudoir session. By that I mean bring great outfits, get a spray tan, and trust my hair and makeup artists.

“Simplicity is the ultimate form of sophistication.” -Leonardo da Vinci

You can read more about what to wear in this blog post, but the main points are listed below.

  • Correctly fitted underwear. Cheeky or thongs that are one size above what you normally wear to prevent skin indentions.
  • Bring a few bra and panty sets so that we have plenty to choose from. Lace is always better. It looks classy/tasteful and makes you feel beautiful.
  • 1-2 Bodysuits. They are good to help you get comfortable in front of the camera while still feeling sexy. It’s important to have thong or cheeky bodysuits to make your booty look its best.
  • Either an off the shoulder sweater or a robe that you feel sexy in. Make sure the sweater isn’t bulky or it won’t photograph well.
  • Bring one of your man’s button up shirts. He will love these photos the most!
  • Super high heels. They will lengthen your legs and you will love the photos in them.

Spray tan

Are you one of the unlucky fair complected women like me? Or if you just have an uneven tan, try Just Fakin Tans. She is my go-to for the perfect tan that will have your skin glowing during your boudoir session.

Hair and makeup

My hair and makeup artists are in the studio before your session to help you relax. The girls will help you feel beautiful, relaxed, and pampered before your session, and they can help you achieve the look you want. Be sure to come in with some ideas prior to your session as well. Need some inspiration? Check out my Pinterest boards.

Leave the posing and expression to me

The one thing you don’t have to worry about is the actual session. As long as you bring the perfect outfits as I mentioned above, you will have a beautiful, classy, and tasteful boudoir session full of gorgeous pictures for your album.

I have “ice breaker poses” that we photograph during the first set of poses. These poses were carefully designed to help you get super comfortable in front of the camera. Once we finish these and you see a few back of the camera shots, you will be 100% confident in your sexiness, and my ability to help you achieve the session of your dreams.

He will love it

I promise you, when he sees these tasteful boudoir photos, he is going to flip out. It will be worth the worry and nerves you feel before the session when you see his reaction. And to top it off, you will feel like the most beautiful woman in the world!

When should you have a tasteful boudoir session photographed?

Is this for a gift? If so, I would recommend no later than 2 months before you want to give him the album. My turn around time is super fast though, so you can contact me if you have a quick deadline.

But honestly, the perfect time for a session is right now. It will change your life and your view about yourself, and let’s face it we all need that. It’s 2019 and social media is full of overly filtered photos that can wreck our confidence when we see our unfiltered selves.

Now, back to when I started my career in boudoir photography. My goal was to photograph women in a classy way through tasteful boudoir photography. Over the years, I feel like I have been able to achieve this by educating clients on what to wear and how to prep for tasteful boudoir photos.

Good lighting and posing combined with helping clients get the right expression also helps to achieve the tasteful boudoir photos I wanted to create, photos that not only will your man love, but will make you feel like the gorgeous woman you are.

The perfect time to schedule a session is now. I promise you won’t regret it.

I’d love to talk to you through a consult, which you can schedule here.

Not ready for a consult yet. That’s okay. Fill out this form for a special offer. 🙂

Photographer’s Scheduling: How to make your process efficient

I have so much trouble giving things up, but because of that, I have developed my workflow so that it is super efficient…Although, my photographer’s scheduling workflow wasn’t efficient until recently.

Raise your hand if you have control issues! **Raising both hands over here.

My old photographer’s scheduling workflow

Before December 2018, I literally had SEVEN steps to booking one client.

  • Email with the client to choose a date/time.
  • Schedule the session in my software.
  • Send:
    • The invoice and hope the client pays.
    • A separate questionnaire.
    • A separate contract.
  • Schedule hair and makeup.
  • Send a separate booking email with all the information the client needs prior to the session.

I seriously did all of that before the session was considered booked. Can anyone else relate?

So, I want to explain to you how I now have my booking process down to two steps, what software I used to do this, and why it’s important for you to look at your processes and where you can improve.

Efficiency: Photographer’s scheduling

The business dictionary definition of streamline: to improve the efficiency of a process, business or organization by simplifying or eliminating unnecessary steps, using modernizing techniques, or taking other approaches.

photographer's scheduling//how to make your process efficient//see more at

Every year, I look at different areas of my business I want to work on improving. In December, I looked at my client booking process and researched how I could make it more efficient. Seven steps seem a bit ridiculous don’t you think?

I decided to try Acuity Scheduling and oh my gosh my life got so much simpler. Now instead of seven steps, I have two. Yes, you read that right. TWO steps.

All I have to do now is send the contract using HelloSign after the client books(and pays) and schedule hair and makeup. Easy peasy.

This lets me get so much more done. Things like photographing more clients/marketing/advertising/blog writing/idea creating. The things that can make more money and bring in more clients- the things we SHOULD be worrying about.

Why should you look at your scheduling process so you can improve it?

"What you do today can improve all your tomorrows." quote by ralph marston// photographer's scheduling blog post by Boudoir by Tracy Lynn of St. Louis MO//Free Goal Planner// see more at

Because why wouldn’t you want more time in your day? If you have a process that is time efficient and condensed down to as few steps as possible, not only will you have time to work on more things in your business, but it also prevents things like unsigned contracts or unpaid invoices floating around. Both super important things to keep your business going and safe.

An efficient photographer’s scheduling process gives you more time to work on your goals in your business because you aren’t spending all of your time doing those time-consuming tasks. And it gives you more time behind the camera doing the thing you ACTUALLY love to do. The reason you started this business at all.

Burnout: That real thing we all are afraid of

Freeing up your time in small areas like scheduling clients will also help to prevent burnout. We see photographers every day closing their businesses because they are tired and just not making enough money to survive.

Little things like improving your photographer’s scheduling process(and so much more) will give you more time to get away from photography so you can enjoy your life. This is so necessary. Be the person who works to live. Not the person who lives to work. Maybe it’s cliche, but give yourself time to make some memories with friends and family. When you get older, you are definitely not going to be saying “I wish I spent more time working instead of making those memories.”

It will also give you time to be creative with your photography. We all get in slumps. Sometimes you just need to carve the time into your schedule to create something different you can be proud of. You can’t do that if you are spending all of your time in your email trying to book your upcoming clients!

Scheduling clients is one of those time-consuming but VERY important tasks. Condensing your client scheduling workflow by using software that can do all the things for you will make your life so much easier, help you be more efficient in your scheduling, prevent burnout, and give you more time in your day to photograph more clients or work ON your business instead of IN it.

“One of the marks of successful people is they are action-oriented. One of the marks of average people is they are talk-oriented.” quote by Brian Tracy// Photographer's scheduling: how to make your process efficient// blog post by Boudoir by Tracy Lynn//See more at

Perfecting your photographer’s scheduling workflow will help you find work-life balance. I promise it’s super important for your business and your sanity.

I have some really cool things coming soon for photography businesses. Fill out the form below to be among the first to know all about it.
