I have been using the Instagram Ask Me Something feature lately and have had some really great questions. By the way, you can follow me here if you haven’t already. One of the questions that really hit me today was “How do you help your modest boudoir clients feel confident during their session(especially first timers)?” I wanted to answer that on a blog post!
Prepping you before the session
Step one is prepping you for the session at the consultation appointment. This is where we will discuss the best outfits for your body type. If you have great outfits, you will feel beautiful during the session, which will show in the images we produce.
The First Poses
I have developed a strategy for every session with new clients. Honestly most of my clientele are modest boudoir sessions who have never done anything like this before. Over the past few years of boudoir photography, I have developed a posing strategy with a specific order of poses to help clients get comfortable quickly. Showing the back of the camera shots also helps you see that the images are actually turning out beautifully and that you have nothing to worry about the rest of the session. 🙂 After those initial poses, most clients begin to feel more confident, which shows in the images as well.
Modest boudoir clients don’t need to worry with Boudoir by Tracy Lynn
The great thing about a session with me is that it’s just the two of us during the session. I am there to help you feel beautiful, confident, and comfortable, while posing you in great light and producing beautiful photos. Within 20-30 minutes, most clients are 100% comfortable and confident and leave the session feeling like the most beautiful woman in the world.
Are you ready to book your consult?
Have you been thinking about a session with me, but still aren’t sure? I would love to chat with you via video chat to help put your mind at ease about everything! You can schedule your consult here with no pressure at all about the actual session. It’s literally just a chat so we can get to know each other!
When I first moved to St. Louis in 2016, I joined a group for creative female entrepreneurs. I met so many great women in that group, one of which is Laura Ann Miller, an STL wedding photographer. She is the sweetest person, and one of the best in the industry in the St. Louis, MO area. Fun fact: she also created my promo video you can see here.
Laura’s website and her work make you believe in a love story. “Authentic story telling for hopeless romantics. Love is a big deal. It should be celebrated and documented.” I didn’t even think I was a hopeless romantic until I was looking through her gallery again. I felt tears at the happiness in her couples’ eyes(also, not going to lie, I am writing this in February and it’s been dreary and cold for 6 weeks and that’s making me emotional, but still).
From her website: “My style is romantic, organic, and real. I am very passionate about capturing moments that are authentic, full of love, and affection! My work is inspired by the everyday beauty in life, but most importantly by the love you guys share. We see a sunset everyday, but when we watch the sunset holding hands with the person you’re meant to be with, that sunset means so much more. THAT is the feeling I want to portray in my images. Your love is so special, and I want to show you that!”
Fine Art Wedding Photographer
Laura is a fine art wedding photographer capturing light & love on film, from the midwest to the southeast, and anyplace love finds you. Did you catch that? She also shoots film. I LOVE film. I have actually photographed a boudoir session in film and it was one of my favorites. Anyway, that’s just another reason to hire Laura.
STL Wedding Photographer Laura Miller and her husband Dominic
Laura dubbed herself the hopeless romantic of this STL wedding photographer duo. She is passionate about creating images that will last a lifetime. Although she lives in the Midwest, she has a heart that belongs on the ocean. Laura loves to travel near and far photographing LOVE. Dominic, the storyteller of the duo, is a vintage car loving videographer. Dominic has a relaxed approach and loves to film wedding days in a candid and authentic way. I can promise you will be happy with their approach to the wedding day.
Portrait Photography in STL
If you are already married, but looking for a family photographer, check Laura out! She is not only a wedding photographer but also a portrait photographer. Like I said above, her work is absolutely gorgeous!

What clients have said about the sessions
Sarah sent me this after gifting her husband his album.
“My husband absolutely loved the album. He didn’t know what to expect really and was impressed by how professional they turned out. He loves the different poses and that I looked natural and myself… I’m super happy he loved them but let’s be honest I literally can’t stop going through them! I’m so happy I did the photo shoot and loved every minute! Hopefully I’ll be able to do it again someday, maybe for a maternity shoot. Thank you so much for your professionalism and just for being a genuinely nice person! You made everything so easy and relaxed. I’ve been telling all my friends they need to do it!-
Heather emailed me after her session to tell me this.
“I have never felt more beautiful and confident in myself. The best part of this experience was that when the album was given to my boyfriend, he told me that he loved it, but the real gift was how it made me feel. He saw the confidence that it gave me and he said I was glowing now. It’s amazing how a photo session can change your whole life.”
I want to change your life, too!

St. Louis has some of the best food and restaurants in the midwest. While STL is famous for T-Ravs, gooey butter cake, provel cheese and St. Louis style pizza, there is so much more to try. What better time to try some new places than during an STL date night?
Annie Guns, the Perfect STL Date Night Location
I’m pretty sure the month I moved to STL, I started hearing about Annie Guns, and still I haven’t been. Located in Chesterfield, MO, it is one of the go to’s for several of my clients as well as a few of my friends.
Their motto is “Food and wines inspired by the richness of country life.” They also use local produce to support local farmers, which I love.
If you are planning a date night to Annie Guns, be sure to book a reservation! You can book online or use OpenTable.
Charlie Gittos is definitely my favorite STL date night Italian restaurant. I’m going to be honest, I think it’s because I love gnocchi, but their other dishes are great as well.
There are three location in STL- the Hill, Chesterfield, and at Hollywood Casino. Weekend and special occasion reservations are a must! You can use OpenTable to make your reservation here too.
Maybe… Brasserie by niche?
I’ve been to this restaurant once with a group of girls. It was really good and the feel of the restaurant is very intimate. Brasserie by Niche will make a great STL date night location! It’s located around Maryland Plaza in St. Louis.
Have you tried Eleven Eleven Mississippi?
Named after the street address, Eleven Eleven Mississippi serves award-winning Tuscan/Californian cuisine. Everything is made from scratch with fresh seasonal ingredients, most grown in the restaurant’s own commercial hydroponic greenhouse.
After you have been to any of the restaurants previously mentioned, be sure to stop at Bailey’s Chocolate Bar for dessert and drinks! It’s a romantic quiet lounge that you both will enjoy, especially with any of the dessert options they have.

Jamie came in for a session with her best friends for a fun girls day stl boudoir session a few months ago. I met with them about 3 weeks prior to her session for a consult where we discussed outfits and what she was wanting to get out of her session.
This session for Jamie and her friends was all about learning to love themselves as they are. During the consult, we discussed what to wear in depth to flatter each girl as they all had very different body types and styles. To feel comfortable during the actual photography session, it’s so important to wear the right outfits and feel like yourself!
Jamie’s STL Boudoir Session
As I mentioned above, this was a girl’s day session, but during these sessions, each client still gets a full session with me individually. Jamie started in a sporty Victoria’s Secret bra and panty set that matched her style, then we changed into her black lace bralette with strappy black cheeky underwear. This outfit was very flattering for her body type!
Jamie is sporty but girly, which I love about her so much because I can relate! After she was feeling more comfortable, she changed into this off the shoulder white tee with converse. I prefer waiting until the third or fourth outfit for tee shirts or sweaters. By the third outfit, you are usually feeling sexier so the outfit works really well!
Jamie wore a lace bralette and super strappy underwear with black stilettos for her fourth outfit and we ended the session in the white sheets.
Seeing the photos
Jamie and her friends came back to the studio the week following their STL boudoir session for the ordering appointment. After telling me how sore they were the day after their session, we went through the photos one by one. This day was emotional. Each girl was so excited about her photos and couldn’t believe the beautiful woman in the images was actually her. They each learned to love and accept “flaws” as a beautiful part of her body. One of the girls mentioned how much she now loves her stretch marks from pregnancy. She GREW A HUMAN. She deserves those battle scars.
I love this “job”
The results of that ordering session reminded me this is why I chose this career. Last year was a huge change in my life and at one point I could tell I was getting burned out. This ordering session and their STL boudoir session was exactly what I needed at exactly the right time, so I am very thankful for Jamie and her girls.
Have you thought about a boudoir session?
Have you thought about a session for either self love or even for a gift for your man? It’s such a great experience for yourself and even better you will have something to look back through to remember the feeling.
Before Jamie even had her album in her hand, she had already booked her second session with me. She emailed me right after telling me how thankful she was for the session and how obsessed she is with the photos! I can’t wait for her next session!
Wedding invitations are an important part of your day. It sets the tone for your wedding and what guests can expect the day of. Finding the perfect designer is so important, and I happen to know one of the best in St. Louis, MO. Alicia of On Three Designs‘ work is absolutely beautiful, plus she is so sweet.
Alicia Lantzy owns and operates On Three Designs. Alicia fell in love with paper in her first year at the Kansas City Art Institute. She had the opportunity to begin her training as a young artist under the direction of calligrapher, the late Carl Kurtz. Kurtz instilled in her an appreciation of the written word and fostered a love in her of fine paper work, dedication, and determination.
When she’s not busy building On Three Designs you can catch her sipping on a glass of champagne at one of her favorite restaurants with her husband, Tom, or relaxing with her crazy Boston Terriers, Louie and Frank.
About On Three Designs
On Three Designs is an invitation and calligraphy studio based out of Saint Louis, Missouri, who’s passion is creating custom wedding stationery for brides and grooms who share the love of fine quality paper.
On Three Designs creates Save the Dates all the way through the day of the wedding custom calligraphy and paper goods that will set the tone for the perfect wedding.
So when should you book your wedding invitations designer?
If you are sending Save the Dates, which are recommended to be sent out 6-8 months before the wedding date, it’s best to book your calligrapher about 8-10 months before your wedding. The design process can take 8-10 weeks for custom wedding invitations. The more time you have the less stressed out you will be. Wedding invitations are sent out about 2-3 months prior to the wedding date!
Incorporating your pet into your wedding
So you all know I am a dog lover. You may know my toy Aussie, Hallie, comes to work with me often. I love the fact that Alicia is a dog lover as well.
She offers a unique line of custom pet portrait cocktail napkins, coasters, drink stirrers and so much more for your wedding reception. Check them out here.
The perfect wedding day starts with the first impression
Like I said before, the wedding invitations set the tone of your wedding.
You will definitely be happy you choose Alicia. She is so personable, welcoming, patient, and amazing at her job. She will help you create the perfect wedding invitations and make sure your wedding is everything you dreamed since you were a little girl.
Summer vacation is right around the corner. Have you started planning your vacay yet?? There are so many options that it can be overwhelming. Last spring I wrote a similar blog post you should check out. This time I want to discuss cruise options, all inclusive resorts, and local travel(heyyy Branson, MO).
Have you tried looking up cruises? Because oh my gosh, it is overwhelming. There are so many cruise lines, so many places to go, different ports to choose, different lengths, different ship sizes. How do you choose the best one? I have talked to a few friends who have been on some, and everyone says Royal Caribbean and Carnival are pretty similar in general. Disney cruises are great for entertaining kids and just a lot of fun. I’m sure Disney will be super busy during the summer since kids are out of school, so book early.
Cruises can range in length from 2 nights to 12+nights. You can choose an interior room, ocean view, or a room with a balcony. One thing to consider though is that you may not spend a lot of time in the room. If you are looking to save money, the way to do it may be with an interior room since you won’t need the view. There are a lot of ports to choose from as well, depending on where you plan to cruise to. Price ranges vary a lot, from $500 for 2 people all the way up to $5500+.
Are you going to want to do an excursion, such as zip lining or scuba diving, or maybe even swimming with dolphins? You can also have a spa day on the cruise if you want.
Most meals are included, but drinks are not. You can also add on the nicer restaurants if you want to try that. The casino is not included, obviously.
Take into account travel to and from the port and a hotel stay at the port. You will probably want to visit for at least a day before you set sail.
All Inclusive Resorts
Mexico isn’t exactly the safest place right now, but if you stay on the resort, you and your loved ones should be fine. There are other options as well though, such as Jamaica, the Bahamas, the Dominican, etc, all of which are gorgeous and will be perfect for summer vacation.
Know what is included and what isn’t ahead of time so you can plan. Sometimes it says “all inclusive” but you may have to pay for some of the top shelf liquor, airport transfer, gratuities, and some of the watersports.
More local options
We are in Missouri, so Branson is obvious. There are other options as well though. I recently went to Dallas/Fort Worth area and had a BLAST. You should definitely look into it if traveling without kids. The stockyards have lots of shopping and museums and bars. You can spend all day there, then go out to eat later and catch a concert at Billy Bob’s.
Chicago is always a great weekend getaway, and there is so much to do for adults and kids if you have a family. The train seems like it would be a fun way to travel.
What do you think of those summer vacay ideas?
I know there are so many other options, but those are a few that could be fun for couples or the family. What are your plans?!
Destination weddings are a fun way to take a little bit of the stress off during wedding planning, plus there are perks as well. Smaller guest lists, all inclusive weddings, beautiful setting for photos, and a vacation are just a few of those perks. The hardest part is probably choosing WHERE to go!
Destination weddings in the United States
The U.S. is huge, so there are a ton of places you could choose just on the “mainland” that are memorable and beautiful. You have the midwest, Florida, the southern coast, Las Vegas, or Colorado, just to name a few.
In the midwest, you could do Branson. I’m including Pigeon Forge and Gatlinburg in this as well, because they are similar to Branson. There are small wedding chapels, the Titanic exhibit(not sure what I think about this), and large wedding venues. Because Branson caters to tourism, there will be plenty for your wedding guests to do to stay entertained, and plenty of accommodations as well.
Florida has the beach and Disney World, both of which are the happiest places on Earth. Ha. Beach weddings are my favorite. By the way, if you ARE planning to get married in Florida, check out Cami Zi Photography. She is AMAZING at what she does and also the sweetest person you will ever meet. I also love Brett Birdsong in the Destin, Florida/Florida Panhandle area. He’s awesome and will make your wedding day super fun.
Florida beach weddings can range in price from super cheap to super expensive after all is said and done, but it’s the beach and no matter what it will be a blast!
Disney weddings are magical. Obviously. It’s Disney World. The photographer I mentioned above, Cami Zi, used to work for Disney as their photographer but now has her own photography business. They range from $3500- 12,000 from what I can tell, but again, they are all inclusive as far as the wedding goes. Accommodations aren’t included.
The Southern Coast
If you want a beautiful southern wedding, Savannah, Georgia, Charleston, SC, and the beach, such as Hilton Head, all down the coast are ideal! I love these areas because they are filled with history, plus just beautiful locations in general within driving distance of St. Louis. Gazebo weddings, traditional church weddings with beautiful plantation receptions, or the beach wedding are all options.
Las. Vegas. These infamous weddings can be as classy, cheesy, or as wild as you want. The famous Little White Chapel is an obvious choice, but for a more classy wedding, the Bellagio has beautiful options.
Colorado has so much to offer as far as destination weddings. It’s such a beautiful state with beautiful landscape. You could choose Denver for historical landmarks. Vail, Aspen, Keystone, or Breckenridge(and many others)have beautiful mountain side views either in winter with snow or in other seasons for just general beauty. You definitely can’t go wrong with anywhere in Colorado.
Destination weddings in Mexico
All inclusive beach resorts usually have amazing wedding venues as well. Riviera Maya, Cancun, Playa Del Carmen, Cabo, and the like all have great options, usually all inclusive, as well, for weddings. Who wouldn’t want the beautiful turquoise water as a back drop to their wedding?
Destination weddings abroad
Some other options for destination weddings could include Paris, Greece, Ireland, and so many more options. The hardest thing with weddings abroad will be convincing your wedding guests to go. Some may want the vacay, while others are scared of international travel, but don’t let other’s opinions deter you in your wedding planning. Your perfect day is far more important!
There are so many options with destination weddings. These are just a few of the more popular options. Later, I plan to go over destination weddings in more detail on the blog, but hopefully this will get your wedding planning started!
