Treat Yourself to a Black Friday through Cyber Monday Special Offer Boudoir Sale

Time to Be Selfish

It’s so easy to get swept up in caring for everyone around us that we forget to care for ourselves. The reasons can range from I have no time, it’s too expensive– my husband needs me to get him that particular thing at the store, my kids need to be drop them off at soccer or art lessons, my dog needs this one particular treat that I can only get at the store across town. As you well know, the list goes on.

Of course, we want to support our loved ones but often we lose sight of our own personal needs. Caring for yourself is indeed not selfish– it’s essential because if we ourselves are not in a solid mental and physical space, we can’t actually care for others around us. It’s a bit of a hierarchy. So really, caring for yourself or being selfish is the least selfish thing you can do! So perhaps a special offer boudoir sale is right up your alley 😉

You’re allowed and need to prioritize yourself from time to time. And I am so excited to offer you an amazing experience– but you have to act fast!

3 Tips for Photographing the Holidays

Making Memories

Most of my clients are moms, but even if you aren’t, you will likely be spending time with family this holiday season. Because I am a photographer, I wanted to give tips to help you take your holiday photos to the next level. No, I am not talking about posing every photo to make your family look sexy. Grandma may not appreciate that! But there are a few things you can do to make those already very special photos even more special! Whether or not you’re a professional photographer, here are some holiday photography tips to take your photos to the next level!

No Professional Equipment Necessary

One holiday photography tip is to not stress if you don’t have a fancy camera. Most of my family photos on this post I took with my film camera, not my fancy studio camera. There’s no need for a professional camera– a point and shoot, a consumer DSLR, or even a phone can look great if you follow these tips below. And really, it doesn’t matter what kind of camera you use because what matters most are those memories with your loved ones. Here are my favorite photography tips below that you can use right away this holiday season!

Get On My Level

Get a different perspective and get yourself and your camera down to your kid’s level// photo by Boudoir by Tracy Lynn//See more at boudoirbytracylynn.com St. Louis

Get a different perspective and get yourself and your camera down to your kid’s level. It makes for a more interesting view of the world and more flattering photos. Changing the level of your camera also shows more of the scene in your photo rather than just the floor.

Seize the Moment

Try to photograph and capture those fleeting moments– Grandma talking to the kids, Grandpa conversing with your husband or laughing with the family, and the kids enjoying some cookies. Soak it all in and get it all on your camera. Snap after snap.

Trying to capture all of these memories on film hits close to home for me. My Grampy passed away in February of 2017 so last Christmas was the last one I ever got to enjoy with him. The photos we took from last year during the holidays are the most important photos I have. You never know when this holiday could be the last so be sure to capture the moments! Now please excuse me while I take a break to cry.

I miss him so much and I’m so thankful for the memories and those photos I have of him.

This, my friends, is why photography is so special and important.

Let There Be Light!

Natural light is your best friend in photography// photo by Boudoir by Tracy Lynn//See more at boudoirbytracylynn.com St. Louis

Find the light. This is my mantra in life! (and photography). Good light will always make for better photos. It can be from the christmas tree lights, the window light on Christmas morning, the light by the table on thanksgiving, the lamp beside your grandad’s rocking chair. Light is light. Use it!

Enjoy it!

I hope you all have a great holiday season and enjoy the memories and as well as your photographs. While you’re busy capturing the moment, don’t forget to live in the moment and take time to enjoy great conversations and food! Holiday Healthy Eating Tips

It’s the Most Wonderful Time of the Year

It’s the holiday season which means lots of fun, family and friend time, and delicious food. While it’s such a great time of year, it can admittedly be a bit stressful. Maybe we have decent habits throughout the year that all seem to come to a screeching halt as soon as the mashed potatoes come out or that decadent cheeseball and crackers come in plain sight. This is exactly why I want to share with you some holiday healthy eating tips from local expert, Gillian Becker.

Gillian’s Holiday Healthy Eating Tips

There are so many things I love about Gillian. She understands how bodies work and is all about helping you be strong, healthy, and feeling your best. I also love that she’s realistic– it’s not about starving yourself– you deserve to eat foods you love while respecting your health and your body. Here is some excellent advice for how to handle the holidays without stressing out.

Before the Party

  • Exercise the day of your event.
  • Bring a healthy dish with you to serve to guests at your holiday parties (fresh veggie platter, large mixed green salad, Cauliflower Fauxtatoes).
  • Eat a high protein snack with a small portion of fat and carbs before your event so that you don’t overeat when you get there. A good pre-party snack is a handful of almonds and a serving of nonfat Greek yogurt.

At the Party

  • Choose a smaller plate at the buffet tables at holiday events.
  • For every alcoholic beverage that you drink, drink one large glass of ice water.

You can still indulge…a little

    • Don’t fret over enjoying your favorite holiday indulgences but keep your portion size small. Remind yourself that it’s just as satisfying to have a few bites of your favorite holiday foods rather a large plateful.
    • Be a food snob! Don’t feel that it is your responsibility to sample every item at the Christmas buffet table. Enjoy small portions of the foods you truly enjoy and skip those that don’t appeal or that you can live without.
    • Remember that holiday events are all about the company you share the season with, not the food☺

The Next Day

      • Get back on track the day after your holiday event. Start the day with a green smoothie (handful of fresh spinach, handful of fresh Kale, juice of one lemon, 1 scoop vanilla whey protein, 1 pear, 2 tbsp nonfat Greek yogurt, filtered water).

Christmas Boudoir Session Inspiration From Boudoir by Tracy Lynn

Christmas Boudoir Session

Tis the Season

In a blink of an eye, it’s November and you’re now sipping your hot Starbucks out of the notorious holiday cup. Once you book your Christmas boudoir session as your special gift for your special someone, it’s time to think about ideas for your Christmas boudoir session. This is the fun part!

Fun Christmas Boudoir Session Ideas

When I’m envisioning Christmas boudoir session ideas for my clients, the goal is not to get too cliché but to get a little creative. We can still style a wonderfully Christmas feeling shoot without Santa outfits or holiday lights. To prep for sessions, I suggest that my clients bring in about four different outfits. For your Christmas boudoir session, there are some fun options you can bring with you!

Comfy Sweater Weather

Make sweater weather sexy and bring a comfy, oversized sweater, knit socks and a cup of cocoa.

Cozy for winter. Taupe thigh high stockings with button details with an off the shoulder, deep red/wine waffle long sleeve night gown. Elevated with black nails and matching wine lips//photo by Boudoir by Tracy Lynn//See more at boudoirbytracylynn.com St Louis

Deep Red Lingerie Set

Deep red lingerie is a sexy yet subtle way to get into the holiday spirit. St. Charles based Liviara, one of my favorite local vendors, has a gorgeous corset and lingerie set in Bordeaux, a deep rouge– perfect for your Christmas boudoir session.

His Shirt

Take one of your man’s shirts for that oversized look. Add in a tie paired with thigh high stockings or knee high knit socks that match to perfect your outfit.

Cozy Coverups

You can even forgo a full lingerie set for a few photos. Cover up with a fur throw (I love this one from West Elm and this one from Bed Bath and Beyond) and pearls for a sophisticatedly sexy look. Or a white scarf (both Target and Etsy have cute ones) with a red thong will create a beautiful contrast and truly give that holiday look.

Bodysuits are a perfect addition in your outfit rotation as they’re a slightly more modest counterpart of little negligées. While I’ve shot bodysuits for other occasions, I’m envisioning some more season-specific garments. A red, lace, long sleeved body suit, like this one from Forever21, would be perfect with white high heels with the classic touch of pearls. Or a more casual approach with a gray bodysuit would also be great for your holiday boudoir session with red high heels. Free People has a nice option in a lot of different colors or Aeri has a great assortment of cozy but cute winter bodysuits.

Props

While I tend to not use many props in my sessions, there are a few that come to mind that would work really well!

  • The obvious choice, a Christmas tree! I already have this in the studio!
  • A dark red throw –I do already have a blue throw at the studio that would also look great.
  • Wrapped gifts in a classic, shiny gold wrapping paper.
  • A large coffee cup with “Cocoa” on it. Here’s a shot below of a cute mug that makes for a fun photo. Instead of a light pink, summery mug, I would try something like this cocoa find on etsy or a mug from a St Louis favorite of mine, Mrs Shoppe on Etsy.

Here are some ideas to get you started! There are so many ways you can make a boudoir session feel like the holidays. Getting creative with the styling and direction of my shoots is one of my favorite parts of a boudoir session.
